We don’t have to curate our way into belonging.
This week’s podcast reminds us what’s true—about God, and about us.

Hi friends,
Our daughter just got home from a great week away at youth group camp, enjoying the peace and beauty of the mountains. Meanwhile, while she was away—me, my husband, and our son took on a different kind of adventure: bowling.
Let me just say… is every place falling apart these days? The lane was $65 for an hour. The rental shoes were barely holding together. And don’t get me started on the bowling pins. Oh my Lord. Crooked. Slanted. Not even close to being in alignment. Check out my picture of the pins. Now, for someone who likes things in order, seeing the pins off-center with bad spacing nearly killed me! Ha.
When we asked about it, the staff said they were still trying to hire someone to fix the equipment. 😅
At least it made a good excuse for my terrible score. After bragging about my ping pong skills last week, let’s just say bowling probably isn’t my sport. I came in dead last.
Still, we had a great time and in this topsy-turvy world, even the misaligned pins made a weird kind of sense. Strangely comforting.
Hope your week brings you a little joy, a little realness, and maybe a reminder that not everything needs to be polished to be good.
And when you get a moment, take a listen to this week’s featured podcast episode. It’s all about aura farming (don’t worry, I had to look it up too) and the exhausting pressure to curate our lives just right.
Have a blessed week!
Devin

Look at these pins! Totally out of alignment!

![]() | A recent study found that 1 in 7 Americans has lied about taking a vacation; posting fake or staged photos on social media just to appear interesting, successful, or “in the know.” And who are they trying to impress? According to the data: friends, coworkers, and even family. |
TRUTH IN: This isn’t just about pretending to travel; it’s another layer of the cultural pressure to look like we’re living our best life, even when we’re not. It’s a distant version of aura farming in a beach-front disguise. And it reveals something deeper. For many of us, image is starting to matter more than truth.
FAITH OUT: God never asks us to stage our lives. He calls us to walk in truth. “Each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor…” (Ephesians 4:25).
We don’t need a perfect trip or a polished instagram post to be seen, known, or loved. We just need Jesus. Real life, not a curated one, is where peace lives.
