What’s Beneath the Surface: Digital IDs, Faith, and Foundations
Things may look polished on the outside, but what are they really built on? From new digital ID requirements in the UK to the foundations of our faith, this week we’ll look beyond appearances to what lasts.

Hi friends,
Have you ever had that experience of walking into a brand-new house and thinking, Wow, this is perfect, only to find out later the foundation is cracked? That happened to us with a few homes we looked at before we moved.
I think a lot of us are in a season where everything looks shiny on the surface: efficient, convenient, modern. Our homes, our jobs, our families, our schools, even our country. But underneath, sometimes the bones aren’t good. And if we don’t stop to look closely, we risk building our lives on things that won’t last.
Paul said it best in 2 Corinthians 4:18: “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
That’s what today’s show is about. Looking deeper. We’ll start with a devotional about surface vs. substance, have a little fun with painted cows and science awards and then see what all the fuss is about over the digital IDs in the UK and what that means for our freedom and faith.
Have a blessed week,
Devin

Listen to this week’s Anchor Points
Short, devotional reflections that anchor our day in truth.
Trading Heavy Rocks for Heaven's Riches. Why We're Afraid to Let Go. – We cling to heavy rocks that only weigh us down, while Christ offers us treasure. Why are we so afraid to let go?
Growing Through the Shedding Seasons – Every six weeks our gecko sheds her skin—uncomfortable, but necessary to grow. Maybe God uses pruning in our lives the same way.
AI Fills the Blanks But God Renews the Mind – AI can supply missing words, but only God can truly renew our minds. Convenience won’t transform us. His Word will.

Faith Out:
Before we trust what we see on the surface, let’s ask: what’s this built on? Is it convenience, popularity, appearances, or is it truth?
Here are three ways to practice looking deeper this week:
Check the foundation. Before we commit to something, ask: What’s holding this up and will it last?
Resist the surface scroll. When something makes us react, stop. Process and pray. Read God’s Word before forming a judgment.
Build with eternity in mind. Invest in the unseen: faith, relationships, character.
